Henley Sculls + Weybridge Silver Sculls

Leander Juniors secured wins in both Open 4x Band 1, and J18 1x, Bands 1 and 2 at Henley Sculls this weekend.

The Junior 4x of Loewen Leblanc, Alfie Webb, Ben Cousins and Lewie Harris won by an impressive 13 seconds ahead of Reading University.

Lewie Harris, picture below, also decisively won J18 1x Band 1 with a 23 second margin over second place. Benjamin Cousins took the Band 2 title, finishing 30 seconds clear of his nearest challenger.

Further J18 results saw Oliver Rowley finish ninth in Band 1, followed by Miles Vann in tenth. Dmytro Polino placed fourth in Band 2, just three seconds outside the top three.

Coach George Nottidge said: “The athletes raced with real confidence. To win both the Open 4x and the J18 1x Bands 1 and 2 shows the depth we have in this squad, and the margins speak for themselves. Everyone should be proud of how they performed. Huge thanks to Kanghua UK boats for their support.

Weybridge Silver Sculls

In addition, the juniors raced at Weybridge earlier this month, with Lewie Harris producing the fastest single scull time of the event. Harris won the J18 1X, finishing 21 seconds ahead of his nearest rival and securing the Demerera Cup.

Benjamin Cousins added a strong result in Senior 1X Band 1, placing second, just six seconds behind the winner and joint third among all single scullers.

In the 26-strong J17 singles field, Miles Vann finished sixth, while Dmytro Polino placed 15th. The results provided an encouraging early-season benchmark, highlighted by Harris’s outstanding overall performance.
