Wallingford Long Distance Sculls 2026
Leander Club had a strong presence at the Wallingford Long Distance Sculls, with athletes racing across doubles, quads and singles over the long-distance course.
In the women’s doubles, Leander’s Dawson crew produced the quickest Leander performance, winning the event in 16:59.9, while Robb finished third in 17:36.1.
The women’s Championship singles saw another strong set of results. Brayshaw won in 17:25.9, with Topp third in 18:26.3 and McCutcheon fifth in 18:39.9. Baker finished sixth in 18:59.7, while Hicken was eighth in 19:19.9. Robinson Ranger also recorded 18:30.4 in the time-only entry.
Leander athletes filled the top of the Women’s B singles, with Kingston winning in 18:17.5, followed by Botterill in second, Pryce third, Jackson fourth and Stratton fifth. Emery finished seventh and Engel ninth.
In Division 3, Leander took the top two places in the women’s quads. The Topp crew won the event in 15:28.5, with the Weddell crew second in 15:43.8, completing a Leander one-two.
In the men’s Open singles, Leander dominated the event, taking the top five places. Alex King won in 15:56.2, followed by James Cartwright in 16:09.9. Thompson finished third in 16:28.5, with McCartney fourth in 16:35.2 and Sheasby fifth in 16:37.3.
Overall, it was a strong day of racing for Leander, with wins in the women’s doubles, women’s Championship singles, Women’s B singles, women’s quads and men’s Open singles, alongside several podium finishes across the programme.
