Leander Club produced a strong set of performances at the Chester Long Distance Sculls, with athletes racing across the men’s singles and women’s quad.
In the men’s Open 1x Band 1, Leander took the top two places, with A. Thompson winning in 19:20.1, closely followed by O. Costley in second in 19:21.5. J. Cartwright also recorded the fastest Leander time of 19:15.1 as a time-only result.
There was another Leander victory in Open 1x Band 2, where D. Jones won convincingly in 19:16.4, more than a minute clear of second place.
Leander completed a further one-two in Open 1x Band 3, with H. McCartney taking the win in 19:36.7 and T. Poulton finishing second in 20:12.4.
The women’s quad produced another excellent result, with the Leander crew led by C. Pryce winning the Women’s 4x- in 17:58.4, more than a minute clear of Warrington in second place.
Overall, it was a successful day of long-distance racing for Leander, with four event wins and two Leander one-two finishes, alongside strong performances across the squad.
