Leander assert authority with a commanding Henley Royal Regatta 2026

A standout set of results for Leander Club athletes at Henley Royal Regatta 2026 – a week where composure, class and quiet confidence delivered exactly what mattered: wins across the board, from home-grown club crews to those now flying the flag for GB. Eight wins, 12 finals, 123 athletes representing the club.

CLUB WINS

THE LADIES’ CHALLENGE PLATE A deeply felt victory for this crew, edging Cambridge University and Harvard University, U.S.A. by a third of a length. Magnus Rathenborg, George Reed, Ben Brockway, Alex Abuhof, Myles McQuillan, Levin Gräf, Ethan Blight, Tobias Kristensen and Paralympian cox Erin Kennedy – on her final run down the course – produced a finish worthy of the occasion. This was the first time in history the club has won back-to-back Ladies wins.

THE FAWLEY CHALLENGE CUP Our juniors were in command from the first stroke, settling early and stretching out to a controlled 2‑length margin over Tideway Scullers School. Alexandros Didaskalou, Cameron McKenzie, Alfie Webb and Louis Sheasby delivered a performance that will have left coach George Nottidge both relieved and delighted.

GB SQUAD WINS

THE GRAND CHALLENGE CUP The GB squad crew listed as Oxford Brookes / Leander Club, featuring Leander athletes Will Stewart (Newcastle University / Leander Club), Harry Geffen (Oxford University / Leander Club), Miles Beeson (Leander Club / Aberdeen RC) and Archie Drummond (Leander Club), dispatched Team Italia with authority, crossing the line 3 lengths clear.

THE REMENHAM CHALLENGE CUP A composed and confident row from the GB squad crew of Leander and Molesey BC athletes, beating Team Italia by 2¼ lengths. Leander athletes Elizabeth Witt (Leander Club / Imperial College BC), Amelia Standing (Leander Club / Oxford University BC), Katherine George (Leander Club / Princeton University), Lauren Irwin (Leander Club / Durham University BC / Chester‑le‑Street ARC), Annie Campbell‑Orde (Marlow RC / Leander Club) and cox Jack Tottem (Leander Club / Oxford University BC) delivered a polished, professional performance.

PRINCESS GRACE The GB squad crew of Leander Club / Reading University BC, with Olympians Lola Anderson (Leander / Newcastle University) and Hannah Scott (Leander / Bann), surged away from Hollandia Roeiclub to record an Easily verdict – decisive, elegant and never in doubt.

THE STEWARDS’ CHALLENGE CUP Leander Club’s reigning World Champions Dan Graham, James Robson (Leander Club / Cambridge University RC), Douwe de Graaf (Leander Club) and George Bourne (Leander Club) held firm against Nautilus RC (the GB U23 squad, featuring Leander athletes Theo Bell, Cameron Beyki, Tom O’Sullivan and Josh Branagan), securing a measured 2‑length win.

THE SILVER GOBLETS & NICKALLS’ CHALLENGE CUP Representing Leander Club, Tom Digby and partner J Wincombe of Marlow RC showed their experience in a tidy, composed race, beating Ford and Grundy of Nautilus by 1¾ lengths.

THE VISITORS’ CHALLENGE CUP The Nautilus ‘A’ crew of the GB U23 squad, including Leander athletes Cameron Tasker and Ben Mead, proved too strong for the Leander Club ‘B’ crew of Calum Jenkins, Ben Newton, Eddie Bayfield and Dan Bradbery who absolutely delighted their supporters by reaching the Final.

OTHER LEANDER CLUB FINALISTS

Leander athletes also made the finals in the The Danesfield Challenge Cup, The Town Challenge Cup, The Queen Mother Challenge Cup and The Princess of Wales Challenge Trophy.

IN SUMMARY
