Leander Club enjoyed a successful Henley Women’s Regatta, highlighted by victory in the Championship Double Sculls and a number of strong performances across the championship events.
In the W Peer Cup for Championship Double Sculls, Leander A produced an outstanding regatta to claim the title, progressing through the field before defeating the University of Iowa crew in the final. The Hartpury University & College/Leander combination also impressed, reaching the semi-finals.
In the Ron Needs Challenge Cup for Championship Eights, Leander A progressed to the semi-finals, defeating Leander B in the quarter-finals before their campaign came to an end against Thames A. Leander B also enjoyed a strong regatta, reaching the last eight.
Leander A reached the final of the Borne Cup for Championship Quad Sculls, finishing runners-up after a series of impressive performances through the earlier rounds.
In the George Innes Cup for Championship Singles, Alex Hempleman-Adams advanced to the semi-finals, recording convincing victories on her way to the last four.
The Championship Coxless Fours faced a challenging draw, with both Leander crews exiting in the opening round against strong opposition.
Overall, the regatta showcased the strength and depth of Leander’s women’s squad, with a championship title, multiple crews progressing to the latter stages of competition and valuable racing experience gained ahead of Henley Royal Regatta.
