Past President Mike Sweeney has written a book – ‘You, Boy, the River!’ This is the story of his rowing journey, from learning to row at school to ending up serving on the World Rowing Council for 14 years and chairing Henley Royal Regatta for more than 20 years.
On the way he rowed for Cambridge in the Boat Race, won medals at Henley and rowed for Great Britain at European and World Championships.
In the ‘70s he was both Chairman of the Selection Board and Team Manager for the British Rowing Team. As Chairman of the Events Commission of World Rowing he was responsible for numerous World Cups, World Championships and Olympic Regattas.
