We are delighted to welcome George Nottidge to the coaching team as our new High Performance Sculling Coach, focusing on the juniors. George comes from Kingston RC where he led the junior men’s squad. George rowed at Tiffin School and the University of Nottingham.
George said: “My love for rowing was fostered through the passionate coaching I received as a young junior alongside early domestic success for both Tiffin School and Tideway Scullers School. This motivated me to seriously explore a career in coaching, which began with completing my level 2 British Rowing coaching qualification in my final year at Tiffin School in 2010.
Through my gap and university years I worked part time at Tiffin School as well as leading learn-to-row courses through the summers before taking a permanent post at Walbrook Rowing Club and then Kingston Rowing Club. For the past seven seasons I have worked closely with Kingston’s junior men, contributing to multiple National Schools’ successes as well as prominent results at Henley Royal Regatta. This saw the club’s first male athletes representing their country at U19 level and continue to thrive in higher education. Internationally, I have coached the U19 men’s double selected for the Coupe de la Jeunesse in 2022 and 2023, winning three silvers and a bronze medal.
It fills me with immense pride to be coaching the junior and high performance beginner athletes at Leander Club, with the aim of getting these athletes selected for the national team at U19 and U23 level. I am undertaking alongside this the consolidation of recruitment strategy aiming to identify and develop future World and Olympic Champions.”
