National Schools Regatta 2021

Dorney Lake was the venue for the eagerly awaited National Schools Regatta 2021.

Junior athletes from all over the UK were excited to finally get racing again after the disappointment of last year’s cancellation and the lack of events due to Covid.

Leander Club had just the one boat racing in the Forest Cup for boys’ Championship quads. The crew of Tristan Grainge, Daniel Landau, Ben Jackson and Sergej Vujosevic coached by Jonathan Jackson acheived 3rd place in the morning’s 1900m time trial to qualify for the A final.

In the final, the Leander crew raced well against tough competion from Tideway Scullers School and Windsor Boys School to come home in 3rd place, taking the bronze medal.

Mark Banks, Leander Club’s Chief Coach and Director of Rowing said “ It was good to see so many juniors racing again. The National Schools Regatta is a great event. Well done to our Leander crew; it’s a good start and something we will look to build on through the summer season”.
