The Cox, the Coach and the Commentator

Thursday 12 March 2020

Double world champion Erin Kennedy, high performance coach James Loveday and Olympic commentator Robert Treharne Jones will be giving their own perspective in Tokyo 2020, following their experience last year at the Sea Forest Waterway, the rowing venue in the Japanese capital. James and Robert both worked there during last year’s Junior World Championships, while Erin has recently returned from an athlete orientation tour of the venue as part of the team preparation for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

The Sea Forest Waterway will offer competitors the first salt water Olympic rowing course since Stockholm 1912, but other hazards include the heat and humidity, flying fish and, of course, the legendary Japanese etiquette!

A drinks reception at 6.30pm will precede a two-course informal supper, with Erin, James and Robert’s presentation to follow, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions.

Tickets, at just £25 a head, are available by calling 01491 575782 or email events@leander.co.uk.

In addition to the evening’s programme, Andrew J. Granger, Bespoke Tailor, will be on hand from 5.30pm, on the 12th March, to take orders for bespoke and made-to-measure Leander Blazers, for both men and women. Andrew will be bringing a seletion of fabrics and linings for perusal and will be happy to discuss and advise. Now based in Henley, fittings by appointment can be either at Leander or on Friday Street or anywhere mutually convenient.
