Leander Members always receive a warm welcome
Our world-wide membership of 3,600 includes our Patron, HM Queen Elizabeth II and Honorary Members such as Sir Steve Redgrave CBE and Sir Matthew Pinsent CBE
Full Members include distinguished past and present rowers and coaches. Also included are many who have given outstanding services to rowing over many years. We also have membership categories for social and non-rowing members
All enjoy the daily hospitality of the clubhouse, members’ privileges, exclusive access at Henley Royal Regatta, as well as special offers and events throughout the year
Full Members include distinguished past and present rowers and coaches together with the world-class athletes who comprise our active rowing squad. The fundamental requirements for Full Membership are “Good fellowship and excellence in the rowing, sculling, coxing or coaching of high performance in fine racing boats.” The Leander Club Committee assesses each candidate on their rowing merit. Only Full Members are permitted to wear the Club blazer buttons and the coveted Leander ‘Pink’ livery such as the tie or pashmina, cap, scarf and socks
The Committee can also admit Full Members based on their services to rowing. It is recognised that many people have given wonderful service for very many years to our sport at club, school and student level. Over the years we have regularly elected members from all over the country – and from all over the world – because of their commitment and devotion to the sport in their area and not for their particular rowing prowess
Candidates must complete a Full Membership application form supported by a proposer and seconder who must themselves both be existing Full Members
Club Members enjoy many of the same privileges as Full Members. Many may not have rowed but they wish to support the rowing programme and enjoy the Club’s hospitality. They are entitled to wear the Club’s ‘hippo’ livery
Each candidate is assessed individually on their merits. If you’d like to apply, you will need a proposer and seconder, one of whom must be a Full Member
