No, not rugby this time… we’re talking wine!
We are delighted to invite you to an exclusive evening of fine wine and lively conversation with renowned Master of Wine, Richard Bampfield.
With English sparkling wines now rivalling – and often outpricing – their French counterparts, the battle of the bottle is heating up. From Champagne to Crémant, Pinot Noir to Chardonnay, the question is: who truly rules the roost?
Join us for the third Leander Wine Club event on Thursday 6 November at 6.30pm. A Master of Wine since 1990, Richard is celebrated for his deep expertise and engaging style. His career spans decades, including leadership at Brown Brothers and consultancy for top names such as Lidl, Albert Bichot, Santa Rita Estates and Château Brown.
This comparative tasting will feature:
- Sparkling wines (including Champagne)
- Pinot Noirs
- Chardonnays
Tasting notes and scorecards will be provided to guide your experience.
As a special treat, LWC Founder David Banford will be donating a bottle of Graham’s Vintage Port 1970 – a rare gem. Guests are also welcome to bring a special bottle from their own cellar to share, though there’s absolutely no obligation.
Please note: The Leander Wine Club is an informal gathering of wine lovers – not an official club or membership group. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or simply keen to learn, you’re warmly welcome to join us, solo or with friends.
Optional Supper: Stay on for a relaxed two-course dinner with the group.
Main course: Cornfed chicken supreme or Mushroom Wellington, with crushed new potatoes and seasonal vegetables
Dessert: Vanilla panna cotta with mixed berry compote
Tickets: £50pp for the tasting, with an optional +£25 for dinner.
Spaces are limited to match wine availability.
Please book by Friday 24 October by emailing bookings@leander.co.uk.
We look forward to raising a glass with you!
