Leander Wine Club Presents: England vs France – Who Rules the Roost?

No, not rugby this time… we’re talking wine!

With English sparkling wines now rivalling – and often outpricing – their French counterparts, the battle of the bottle is heating up. From Champagne to Pinot Noir, Chardonnay to Crémant, the question is: who truly rules the roost?

Join us on Thursday 6 November at 6.30pm for our third Leander Wine Club event, hosted by the brilliant Richard Bampfield MW. A Master of Wine since 1990, Richard brings decades of expertise and a passion for sharing the stories behind the glass.

This comparative tasting will feature French and English:

  • Sparkling wines (including Champagne)
  • Pinot Noirs
  • Chardonnays

A light supper will be available after the tasting (optional).

Guests are welcome to bring a special bottle from their own cellar to share.

LWC Founder David Banford will be donating a bottle of Graham’s Vintage Port 1970 – a rare treat!

Please note: The Leander Wine Club is not an official club or membership group, just a friendly gathering of wine lovers. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or simply curious, everyone is warmly welcome to join us.

Spaces are limited to match wine availability, so we recommend registering your interest early.

Tickets are £50pp, to include ample tastings and expert tuition from our Master of Wine. An optional two-course supper can be added to this for £25 per head (menu to follow).

Please email bookings@leander.co.uk to secure your place.
