HORR 2026

Leander Club delivered an impressive set of results at the 100th Head of the River Race on Saturday, highlighted by a superb performance from the 1st VIII, who claimed victory for the third consecutive year, and the Fairbairn Trophy.

Racing over the Championship Course, the 1st VIII showed great speed and technical ability throughout to secure top spot in a highly competitive field, continuing an outstanding run of success for the club.

World Champion, George Bourne, writes on instagram: “Absolutely epic to get my first win at the 100th edition of the Eights head this weekend and I’m loving the full circle moment of winning 75 years after my Grandpa Paul in 1951! Both my Grandpa and I rowed in the 5 seat and it’s cool to be able to put us side by side in these two clips! Also fun to get closer to my unofficial and made up challenge of completing the Tideway Grand Slam with just one left to go…” (Scullers Head).

The 2nd VIII also produced a strong performance to finish 6th, in an exceptionally tight race where only small margins separated several leading crews. Meanwhile, the 3rd VIII, made up of a young and developing lineup, placed 22nd, gaining valuable experience and demonstrating encouraging potential for the season ahead.

Overall, it was a positive day on the Tideway, with all crews contributing to a strong showing as Leander builds momentum towards the regatta season.
