Henley Women’s Regatta

In a stunning final race of Henley Women’s Regatta 2025, the Leander / UL / Durham women’s crew took the win against a formidable crew from Thames Rowing Club.  The Leander women led out of the blocks and showed their power and tenacity in challenging conditions, to continue to inch away every stroke.

The Thames crew however, did not give up and mounted a ferocious sprint towards the end of the race but it wasn’t enough to cross the line ahead of the composite crew.  Both crews will undoubtedly meet again when they face off in the inaugural Bridge Challenge Plate at Henley Royal Regatta in two weeks’ time.

For many Leander crews, Henley Women’s Regatta is the pinnacle racing of the season. Each year as the regatta develops and grows, so does the competition and depth in women’s rowing across all fields.

In the women’s fours event, the Leander women progressed to the Sunday final.  As previous winners, their aim was defend the title. The crew fought hard but unfortunately were unable to match the pace of Molesey.

In the women’s single, Amelia Hempelman-Adams progressed through the early rounds with ease, only to meet Olympic Champion Imogen Grant in the final.  Amelia led off the start but the experience of Imogen showed through as she was able to hold a higher cruising pace through the middle.

Leander had a number of crews entered across the regatta that showed grit and determination in the early rounds, before being knocked out by fierce competition.

The focus for the women’s team now turns to Henley Royal Regatta, with some crews starting their campaigns with qualification races on Friday.
