The Turkey Sculls, held this year on on Thursday 21st December, is the traditional way we bring training to a close at the club. On a blustery day and a full river, 48 athletes were drawn in scratch mixed quads to battle it out for the prize turkey, kindly given by Copas Turkeys.
A huge turnout of spectators, friends and family came down to the club to enjoy the racing, soup and bacon rolls.
The knockout competition produced some excellent racing into the wind and in challenging conditions, the mixed crews produced some great results. In a hotly contested final, the crew of Felix Richardson, Charlotte Fennel, Jemima Furness and Tristan Grainge emerged victorious.
Ali Brown said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to Copas Traditional Turkeys for providing our winning crew with a turkey each for Christmas. We’re indebted to their generosity.”
