Leander Club has warmly welcomed Ukrainian Dmytro Mikhai to the squad.
Dima was in the M2x at the London Olympics and the M4x in Rio; World and European Champion in M4x, 2014; Bronze medal at World Championships in M4x, 2018. Full rowing profile here.
Dima and his new wife Dasha arrived in Henley at the end of April. They are being temporarily hosted by Jack Beaumont’s family but they are looking for longer term accommodation in Henley. They are expecting a baby in August. Dima wants to continue to row and has never raced at HRR so is hoping that he can compete in this summer’s regatta.
Dima was in Turkey on training camp when war broke out. Dasha’s city of Kherson was quickly occupied by Russians, leaving her to make the dangerous journey to Turkey via Romania. They waited in Turkey for a month for their Homes for Ukraine permission to travel.
