NATIONAL SCHOOLS REGATTA 2019

Dorney Lake was the venue for The National Schools Regatta 2019.

The Leander Club junior boys have been having a fantastic season so far and this date was eagerly anticipated by the squad and coaches.

The weekend got off to a great start with the second junior quad taking gold in the 2nd 4x event. They raced the final very well beating an impressive Henley Rowing Club crew to take the win. The winning crew comprised of Joe Murphy, Tristan Grainge, Stephen Hughes, Paul Hoeselbarth coached by Livinia Cowell- Sheriff.

Next up was the top boat racing in the Championship quad event. The time trial and the semi final races earlier in the day suggested that the final would be a great race between Leander Club and Henley RC. Leander got off to a good start and the crews were neck and neck all the way. Henley RC took the gold by a small margin leaving the Leander crew of Miles Devereux, Alex Milne, Joe Willis, Tim Eilers and Coach James Loveday to settle for silver. Congratulations to Henley on a superb race in a very fast time.

Sunday saw Leander boat two championship double sculls, which achieved an incredible gold and silver medal ahead of Henley RC in bronze. The winning 2x was Miles Devereux and Tim Eilers and in the silver crew was Joe Murphy and Stephen Hughes, coached by James Loveday.

Last up was Alex Milne and Joe Willis racing in the Championship single scull. Joe missed out on the A final but secured the win in the B final. Alex raced brilliantly by reaching the A final and taking home a silver medal against top competition.

Congratulations to all of the boys involved, it is impressive results that put them in a good position for Henley Royal Regatta in a few weeks time.
