The National water sport centre, Nottingham was the venue for all the top juniors in the country for the GB Spring Assessments Trial 2019.
James Loveday took four scullers from our Leander junior squad to compete for a spot on the Munich Regatta team. Miles Devereux, Joe Willis, Stephen Hughes and Joe Murphy were all selected to attend based on their performances over the Long-Distance trials in Boston.
After a gruelling four days of matrix testing and seat racing in doubles, Miles Devereux impressed sufficiently to be selected to race for GB for the first time in his career. Miles joined Leander when he was fifteen years old and was originally coached by Livinia Cowell-Sherriff as he came through our Leander junior program. To get selected for GB has been an ambition for Miles for some time and all athletes and coaches at Leander are delighted for him and hope he can continue this form into the summer.
James Loveday has been heavily involved with the GB junior sculling team this season, attending training camps before Christmas and regular training days. Congratulations to James also as he has been asked to continue his involvement with the junior sculling with an invite to coach at Munich Regatta.
The Leander Junior squad are having a great season so far and we wish them all the best for the coming regatta season.
