Leander is acknowledged as the most successful Olympic sports club in the world.
As it approaches its Bicentenary in 2018, the Tokyo Olympics in 2020 and beyond, Leander looks forward to continuing its development, including new outreach and legacy commitments. In partnership with World Rowing, Leander will help to raise the sport’s profile and accessibility internationally.
In August this year, some of Leander’s GB athletes will row 900 km down the Kafui River in Zambia to help World Rowing raise the profile of the sport in sub-Saharan Africa. In 2018, Leander will commemorate and celebrate its Bicentenary with a range ofevents and activities both in Henley-on-Thames and at prestigious venues in London. In 2019, building on this year’s expedition, we anticipate another rowing challenge – and in 2020 we expect to once again deliver approximately half of Team GB at the Tokyo Olympics.
