DESCRIPTION:Leander Wine Club Presents: England vs France – Who Rules the Roost? \nNo\, not rugby this time… we’re talking wine! \nWe are delighted to invite you to an exclusive evening of fine wine and lively conversation with renowned Master of Wine\, Richard Bampfield. \nWith English sparkling wines now rivalling – and often outpricing – their French counterparts\, the battle of the bottle is heating up. From Champagne to Crémant\, Pinot Noir to Chardonnay\, the question is: who truly rules the roost? \nJoin us for the third Leander Wine Club event on Thursday 6 November at 6.30pm. A Master of Wine since 1990\, Richard is celebrated for his deep expertise and engaging style. His career spans decades\, including leadership at Brown Brothers and consultancy for top names such as Lidl\, Albert Bichot\, Santa Rita Estates and Château Brown. \nThis comparative tasting will feature: \n\nSparkling wines (including Champagne)\nPinot Noirs\nChardonnays\n\nTasting notes and scorecards will be provided to guide your experience. \nAs a special treat\, LWC Founder David Banford will be donating a bottle of Graham’s Vintage Port 1970 – a rare gem. Guests are also welcome to bring a special bottle from their own cellar to share\, though there’s absolutely no obligation. \nPlease note: The Leander Wine Club is an informal gathering of wine lovers – not an official club or membership group. From extreme heatwaves to rising sea levels and disrupted ecosystems\, our world is undergoing rapid transformation. But what do these global changes mean for us? \nProfessor Merchant will take us on a journey from the latest climate science to the risks we face worldwide\, the knock-on effects on people\, economies\, and nature\, and the urgent actions needed to steer toward a better future. \nWith the discussion hosted in one of rowing’s most legendary venues\, he’ll also touch on the local implications for the Thames and Henley in our changing climate.
