Leander is home to some of the country’s most decorated Olympic rowing legends, including Sir Steve Redgrave and Sir Matthew Pinsent, who have contributed to the club becoming the most successful single sports club in the world, when measured by Olympic medals.
The extraordinary success of Team GB at the Olympic Games in Rio has placed them at the top of the rowing medal table. Twelve Leander Athletes won medals (out of GB’s total of 26) to swell the Club’s tally of Olympic medals from 111 in 2012 to an amazing 123.
The remainder of our Row2Rio campaign celebrates the efforts and achievements of these athletes – providing corporate guests with a unique opportunity to meet and hear their stories, which never fail to inspire. Event proceeds go to support the next generation of Olympians currently training at the Leander Academy.
