Thursday 18 October 2018
We shall meet at 12 noon for a welcome drink before sitting down to enjoy a three-course lunch at 12.3o pm.
Our guest speaker will be double Olympic finallist Lou Reeve, who will speak about her recent 830 km row in Zambia negotiating challenging water conditions and curious crocodiles and hippos.
Three crews negotiated a stretch of the Kafue River over a period of the 16 day expedition, in which Leander’s Francis Highton and Zoe De Toledo also took part and were accompanied by rowers from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia and other African nations.
The row was organised to highlight the ecological challenges which the Zambezi river basin faces and to raise money for a centre, which will test the water regularly and carry out wildlife studies.
The challenge ended at the Kafue River and Rowing Centre, where World Rowing and the World Wildlife Fund have launched a project to improve freshwater supplies around the world.
Ticket price is £35 per head. Please call 01491 575782 or email Laura Andrew to secure your booking.
