As Leander’s GB athletes return to training post-Rio, members and corporate guests will hear the stories of three prominent Olympians at a Meet the Athletes evening at Leander on Thursday 16th February 2017:
Vicky Thornley Having got through to the Finals in the Women’s 8 in London, Vicky collected her well-earned Silver Medal in Rio with Katharine Grainger in the Women’s Double Sculls. An ex equestrian rider and model, Vicky is one of GB’s finest women rowers.
Will Satch MBE Bronze medallist in the coxless pair in London and Gold medallist, as stroke in the Men’s 8 in Rio, Will also has three World Championship titles, medals from three European Championships and a host of World Cup golds.
Jack Beaumont is one of Britain’s most prominent scullers. He was called in at the last minute to row in his first Olympics as replacement for Graeme Thomas who was taken ill. Reaching the finals in the men’s Quad, Jack will be building on this experience as he works towards Tokyo on 2020.
