About Us
The Pink Hippo Shop
The Boat Fund Shop (as it was known) started some years ago with the primary purpose of raising funds to purchase new boats. It has now become a major source of revenue directly linked to support the rowing programme.
Everything in the shop is available for purchase apart from Member's regalia i.e. pink or city ties and buttons, which are for Members only. Much of the range is designed and made especially for the Club and can only be bought through the Shop.
 The story of 'why a Hippo'?
The Hippo is reputed to be the King of the River in Africa and Leander aspires to be King of the River in rowing! Leander Club is known fondly to many as the Pink Palace due to the Club's colour being Cerise (Pink). Hence 'pink hippo'. All clothing items in the shop carry the pink hippo logo.
