PRESS RELEASE - 2 JUNE 2005
ETON COLLEGE ROWING CENTRE AT DORNEY LAKE
Dorney Lake Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of Ivor Lloyd as Managing Director of Dorney Lake, Eton’s international rowing course. Mr Lloyd will join the staff of the Lake on 6 June and will succeed the current incumbent, Roderick Watson, as from 18 July.
Mr Lloyd is an experienced businessman, having spent some years with Marks & Spencer, and in his spare time is Director of Rowing at Leander Club. He lives near Reading.
Duncan Clegg, the Chairman of the Trust, said: “We count ourselves very fortunate to have secured the services of Ivor Lloyd to help us continue to establish the Eton College Rowing Centre as a financially secure venue of the highest possible standards for Eton College Boat Club, and rowing and other water sports in England.
"He will be a worthy successor to Roderick Watson, whose vision and determination brought the Lake into existence and to the highest international standards, as demonstrated at last week’s very successful international World Cup Regatta. Mr Watson will remain at the Lake and supervise the completion of construction, scheduled for the end of 2006. The Trust, and British rowing generally, owe Mr Watson a great debt of gratitude” he said.
